Arch Nemesis

erratic_prophet | 01 June, 2005 22:41

Ok, not really an arch nemesis..

But I don't like her. I tried to! I really did! But...I don't. I've noticed that every time we work together, that she works really hard to look like she's doing something when she's totally not doing anything. It's irksome. And that's not the only thing. I compiled a list of sorts on my way home..

  1. You almost never find her away from the register. Even when the place is dead. Another coworker told me its because she's determined to open more credit accounts than everyone else. (We get a little something for each account we open.)
  2. When she does pretend to straighten out the clothes on the racks, she makes sure it's right next to the register.
  3. She actually winds up making a bigger mess than anything. A mess that I usually wind up cleaning up. You should've seen the fitting room tonight.
  4. The fitting room tonight. We are to check the fitting rooms every hour. She signed off for 8 PM. That's basically saying that she checked the whole fitting room and took the clothes out and put them back on the racks. Usually, I do this because she's too busy clinging to the register, but things got a bit busy and then I became swamped with customers. I checked it a while later and found clothing in nearly every booth. I recognized some of the outfits from customers I'd had around 8 PM. That would make her a liar, wouldn't it?
  5. Every time I was busy with a customer out on the floor, I'd hear her calling my name. Repeatedly and insistently. She even annoyed a few of the customers I was trying to help. As one said, "What the hell is her problem?" Why was she calling me? To deal with a customer. Why couldn't she do it herself? God, I wish I knew. It got to the point where I started to hate the sound of my name.
  6. When she takes items to other departments, she's gone for an extremely long time. Sometimes we wind up with clothing from other departments, we wait for a free moment to run them over and pick up any of our garments from that section. This usually takes 5-10 minutes max. I've seen her disappear for 20-30 minutes. Long enough for a break that she wasn't meant to have.

The list could go on and on. The more I think about her, the angrier I get and she's just not worth it. I just hope I'm not stuck with her on a busy night again. I might just have to strangle her and leave her in the fitting room somewhere. Fitting, isn't it? (Bad pun totally intended.)

I don't think you really tried to like her.

Yay retail!

I have an arch-nemesis, too, but only because I think it's important to have one. He's actually a pretty okay guy. But never mind that. I will destroy him!!!

Chicks like that get caught out. What i hate is the selfishness. The account thing, man that would piss me off, how dare she. I had a friend in real estate here, who ended up quitting because an expensive home would come on to the market, this one guy would end up with all the really $$$ houses to sell and 3 of them would get the cheaper end of the market which means considerably less commission.
Karma...........it wins out it the end.

J- Pffft! I did try to like her! She's evil. Pure evil. Ok, not evil. Just a pain in my ass.

Michelle- It's more frustrating for the full time workers. I'm only part time, so they don't expect me to open a lot of accounts. They put more pressure on the full timers. But they can't do it if they're too busy picking up the slack and cleaning up her messes. It makes me want to stomp and shout "It's not fair!!"

I think this calls for subterfuge. You can't call her out because then you'll look like the catty one. You're just gonna have to get creative. That helped, right?

Viv- I'm just laying low for now. She's got some more important people ticked off and that suits me just fine. I'm just doing my best to look good.

People do eventually notice those things so I think the best thing to do would be to lay low for awhile and let it play out. Karma will smack her in the head soon.

Edana- That's what I figure. I'm the new girl. I don't need to make enemies yet.
